It's
as Simple as Putting One Foot in Front of the Other
If
you enjoy walking but don't know where to go and don't want to get
lost! then a new scheme in Brighton and Hove could be just the thing
for you. Brighton & Hove Healthwalks has launched
its programme of led walks for Winter 2003 - Spring 2004 which includes
three walks every week in East Brighton. Walking is one of the best
types of exercise around and is particularly good for people who
want to start doing something active in their lives. It
can halve your risk of a heart attack or stroke; reduce your risk
of diabetes and certain cancers; and make you feel less stressed.
As many of us know, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or anxious - and
simply getting out of the house and meeting new people can make
all the difference. You can come on a Healthwalk to get away from
it all - or bring your family and enjoy the great outdoors together!
Healthwalks
range from the very easy to the moderately difficult and include
beginners walks and ones which are particularly good for wheelchair
users and people with small children. All walks are free,
led by trained Volunteer Walk Leaders, and end at a Cafe! There
are two weekly walks that start from the Pavilion Cafe in East Brighton
Park - a short one on Sundays at 10.30am and a longer one on Wednesdays
at 10am. There's also a weekly walk in Stanmer Park, meeting at
the park gates Saturdays at 1pm. A long seafront walk also runs
every first and third Sunday of the month at 10.30am, meeting at
Gracie's Cafe at the Peter Pan playground.
