Two
tea parties were held in the New Deal for Community (NDC) area recently.
The parties were for people aged over 55. The first party was held on
Monday March 25th at the Valley Social Centre. The second party was
on Wednesday March 27th at the Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre.
Both
parties were held in the afternoon and transport was arranged for those
who needed it. Bee Pooley, the Community Development Worker for
Older People, helped to organise the parties with the Seniors Community
Project. The Seniors Community Project was formed to involve older
people more in community activities.
The
Monty James Trio provided live music for both of the well-attended
parties. Dorothy from John Whittle Lodge at Saunders Park said:
"This is the first time I have been in the Moulsecoomb Leisure
Centre." Whilst Pearl from the Highway at South Moulsecoomb
said: "It was a very good idea." and Mick Smith
of Ryelands Drive said: "A good time was had by all."
and that he had heard about the party down at the rent office.
