News from the Seniors Community Project

New Tai Chi Classes  In the autumn we will be helping to set up some Tai Chi exercise classes in Moulsecoomb and Whitehawk. This gentle form of exercise is ideal for older people and can be done standing up or sitting down. It helps to improve balance, keeps the body toned up and is very relaxing.

Interactive Theatre at a Venue Near You!   A local theatre group of older women, Amazing Graces, will be performing a play about older people and loneliness. It's not all doom and gloom as audience members are encouraged to suggest alternative positive endings. There will be a showing in Whitehawk and one in Moulsecoomb.

Outings - Past and Future!   There have been some great days out to Hampton Court, Weymouth, Arundel and Windsor. "Thoroughly enjoyed myself." "Excellent." "Had a marvellous time." have been some of the comments. More is planned for the autumn (see last issue of Phoenix) and possibly some trips to the theatre in the winter. The outings have been organised by Seniors Leisure Group (Moulsecoomb, Bates and Saunders) and Goodtimers (Whitehawk, Manor Farm). For details of all these events and to book transport if needed, phone Bee or Kia on 296 757.
