New Deal for Communities have been running football coaching session
Moulsecoomb and Whitehawk during the Easter holidays. In total 84
children from Moulsecoomb and 95 from Whitehawk have attended the
coaching sessions.
The two-week programme culminated in a special
tournament at Preston Park on Friday 12th April from 10am to 3pm.
About 160 children were involved in the tournament including some
with special needs. Approximately 60 parents attended the tournament
as spectators.
Six young people were trained
as assistant coaches and are going through the process of being
qualified. Every participant received a prize and one player out
of every team received a medal for showing a good attitude. Bob
Brooker the assistant manager of Brighton & Hove Albion
Football Club attended the tournament to give out the prizes. This
is the second year the coaching sessions have been held and the
number of children involved has more than doubled. Read about this
