A
terrific Saturday night was had by all who attended the Whitehawk
Boxing Club's sell-out show, which was held at the Leisure Centre
in Moulsecoomb on April 5th. Gary Emins who originally lived
in Moulsecoomb and is now a trainer in Whitehawk was extremely pleased
with the turnout on the night of 600 people and the fact that the
evening went great. He said, "In the future the Club will
be looking at holding another show possibly at the beginning of
next season or around November time."
Several
well known celebrities which included the likes of Ronnie Davies,
Scott Welsh and Terry Spinks were at the event to
hand out the evening's trophies.
Whitehawk
managed one winner that evening with Mark Williams (60kg)
who also received the Best Whitehawk Prospect award. Furthermore,
Steve O'Brien (67kg) collected the Steve Hagerty Memorial
Trophy on the night for the Best Whitehawk Boxer. Several
Whitehawk juniors including Lee Mercer (54kg) and Daniel
Adams all gained valuable experience in a very competitive night
of boxing.
On
the night Steve Reed, the Whitehawk Club's light-heavy weight
and ABA quarter finalist, was an unlucky loser having been stopped by
Colin Goldhawk (Cheshunt) in the second round with a badly cut
eye. Whitehawk Boxing Club is continuing to train at St. David's Hall,
Whitehawk Road, and wouldwelcome any new members. Also don't forget
to look out for details of their future shows.
