Tuesday
the 17th was a bad night. It was cold, windy and raining outside.
We made ourselves comfortable in the Brighton Centre where our team
the Brighton Bears were playing. The game was against
the Birmingham
Bullets. The atmosphere was great and friendly, it was looking
to be a very enjoyable evening and the seats were filling up fast.
The
age group varied from very young to OAPs, sorry
to call you that but I could see you were having a great
time the
same as everybody
else. I spoke to a number of people who were there to watch the Bears
play for the first time and I am sure after tonight’s match
would be coming back for more, it is so easy to get hooked.
Back
to the match: the Bears dominated every quarter of the match. By
the third quarter the bears were pulling out all the stops and the
game became faster and more tackles were coming from every angle.
During the half-time there was a game for the children, they had
to shoot the ball into the net and if they managed to get it in they
would receive a ball. Well you would have liked to have seen the
faces of some of the children who did win, absolutely priceless!
Well
back to the game: the score was just going up and up in the Bears’ favour.
At half time the score was Bears 64 - Bullets
32. Yorick Williams scored 16 points against his old team, the Bullets.
One player Rico Alderson seemed to dominate the scoring in the first
quarter. When it got to the last minute of the match everybody stood
up clapping and shouting to see both teams score some more points
for themselves. The final score was Bears 127 - Bullets 80.
Over
their last 41 matches they have won 31 of those. Good Luck Bears
for the next coming Basketball League matches. Well done and keep
going.
