Just
because I was lucky enough to pick the winner of the 4.20 seductively
called A Woman in Love. Although this was more by luck than judgement,
it was only the icing on the cake that topped a
wonderful day out. Basking in the sunshine on the stomping grounds
of Iron-age kings, enjoying the same fantastic views that they did.
With no doubt this is one of the finest places in Sussex with
rolling downs surrounding us and coastal views to die for. With the
company
of some of the most majestic
animals on the planet and an afternoon of the sport of kings to come. WOW! "I
know and that's only the place!"
The
racecourse management had spent some time creating the type of attractions
and hospitality that would keep most of us and the
kids entertained all afternoon. With a giant
bouncy inflatable, giant games, a hobby
racehorse
workshop, face painting and Herby the Hound giving out
delicious chocolate all afternoon. There were even
attractions with lots of info on how to help pick a winner for those first time
race goers. Plus
plenty of choice in the things you could eat and drink, either in the course
grounds or in one of the different bars and
restaurants around the course.
There
was plenty of room at the rail for getting up close to the
action or up in the grandstand if you like the
overview of the whole racecourse so you can track your selection
from starting gate to the finish
line. Being up in the stand was one of the best adrenaline rushes
that I've had for ages. Yep! That's another reason to get
myself to the 3 day festival in August. The festival is making a
comeback to the racecourse after an absence of 8 years, before
this it was part of the
calendar since 1783.
So why not go and
experience the delights of Brighton Race course for
yourself and maybe I will see you there!
