The
Club celebrated their first birthday in March with a special surprise.
Indra Donfrancesco, the club's founder, tells us how:
"We
applied to the SCARMAN Trust Fund and successfully received £2000 to
keep us going for another year, to continue to teach two classes a week,
one for eight to 15 year olds and the second for 15+. It has been an
exciting year with over thirty dedicated girls on the books; fifteen
of which have passed their first grade to achieve a red belt."
"None
of us had any real experience of Kick-boxing before but we recognised
it as being a very disciplined form of self defence and in these
times that we live in, it is important that a person knows they
can defend themselves if the need arose. Tiffany Williams, our trainer,
has held the British Fly Weight belt for England and is considered
one of the best female trainers in the South; we are very lucky
to have her dedication, though I also think we deserve to have the
best for our Whitehawk girls."
New
members welcome!
Classes
are held every Tuesday during term time @ the Valley Social Centre
in Whitehawk:
8 to 15 year olds, 5 - 5.45pm
15+ year olds, 6 - 7pm.
Fees are £1.50 and £2.50.
If
you have children and are interested you can bring them to watch, though
we ask that no 14+ boys attend. Just for us girls! We would also like
to run the same club for girls in MOULSECOOMB. If you think you may
be interested please phone Indra
on 077 3682 7363.
