My
name is Paul Jeffries and I'm a student at CoMArt. The
main reason I have decided to write this article was to inform people
about the troublesome times that CoMArt has had and the very
weary future ahead of it. Recently there has been a lot of activity
going on at the school concerning the likes of Jarvis (building contractors)
and with this there has also been some confusion. I suppose that
for anyone to understand what I'm saying I will have to start at the
basis of the problem.
CoMArt
has been suffering terribly over the last few years with publicity,
this has been caused through a lack of stability. Even though
people refuse to believe it, the stability is back now and as a Year
Ten student of the school I think that CoMArt is back on its feet. Last
year work began on "rectifying" the school with all kinds of new facilities,
these included a new building and two new football pitches. So with
a rush of excitement everyone thought that the money that was
being pumped into CoMArt was finally working and the school was going
back to how it once was.
However,
and this is a very big however, around six months later there were rumours
of the school facing closure. After all the money that had been
put into the school and all of the time, effort and devotion of the
teachers, the school was finally facing a brick wall. But I refuse to
believe this, I see absolutely no reason what-so-ever why CoMArt should
close. From the meetings that I have attended that have been to ascertain
the future of the school, and the records that I have seen, there is
nothing terribly wrong with East Brighton College Of Media Arts.
Every student that attends the school is now in complete confusion about
what is going to happen. Already because of what I think are unnecessarily
strong decisions, my fellow students and I are going to be doing half
our English and ICT lessons at Varndean School!
