This list is by no means comprehensive, but we hope you will find it useful.

With 18 months to go

• Church wedding decide the venue and see the vicar to make a preliminary booking for the proposed date and time.

• Choose your bridesmaids, attendants, best man and ushers. Begin planning your wedding trousseau. Compile your guest list. Choose your caterer.

• Book the honeymoon at travel agent. Book the reception venue. Book band or disco

With 12 months to go

• Start to compile a wedding gift list.

• Book wedding transport. Order wedding dress. Book photographer

With 9 months to go

• Confirm with the minister arrangements for calling the banns form and order of service, flowers, music, bell-ringing and church fees.

• Buy your wedding rings. Discuss the menu with the caterer. Start making or order a traditional wedding cake. discuss bouquets, headdress and flower arrangements.

• Place order with florist. Place order with printer, wedding stationary, seating place cards, cake boxes for mailing.

With 6 months to go

• Book a civil wedding at a registry office with the registrar. Shop for a trousseau. Confirm your honeymoon plans for inoculation advice from your doctors surgery. Check both passports and visa requirements. Make sure you have sufficient suitcases. Choose and book a hotel for your wedding night-ask about special rates for honeymoon couples.

With 4 months to go

• Write and send invitations, record replies. List wedding gifts and send back thank-you-letters. Buy thank you tokens of appreciations for the following people:-
  Chief Bridesmaid, Bridesmaids, page-boys, Ushers, Best Man, Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom.

With 2 month to go

• Chase late replies to invitations and finalize the guest list. Confirm arrangements with the reception venue. Draw up the seating plan for the reception. Confirm the menu, wine list and final number of guests. Confirm the wedding transport arrangements. Confirm arrangements for your wedding trousseau. Plan your hair style. ( If you are styling your own hair, have a practice run ) .

• Book hair appointment ( ask about a home appointment ).

With 1 week to go

• For a church wedding have a rehearsal of the ceremony. Check that the best man has received the service sheets.
