About Us

Parklands Learning and Care Centre opened in October 2000 after receiving a grant from the New Opportunities Fund, which is supported by the National Lottery. Our aim is to provide quality childcare in a safe and friendly environment. We are open both before and after school and all day during school holidays and on teacher training days. At the centre our emphasis is on "fun for all".

PLACC was officially opened by Michael Underwood from Children's BBC. Other visitors to the centre have included Sally Keeble MP, Tony Clarke MP, Professor J Allan Patmore CBE representing the New Opportunities Fund and Kate Hoey MP who was at the time the Minister for Sport. In 2004 Parklands Learning and Care Centre was one of the chosen lottery funded projects to take part in an exhibition at the Tate Modern in London to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the National Lottery. The centre's story was included in a "virtual maze" that the many visitors to the exhibition could explore.

What we do

Parklands Learning and Care Centre is a registered charity and none of the trustees receive any payment for their work. The centre is totally self-funding with our only source of income being our fees. The centre is registered with and regularly inspected by Ofsted. At the centre children are able to take part in a wide range of social and creative activities as well as sports and games. Staff also take the children out on trips away from the centre including activities such as pond dipping.
