Radio Airedale is the broadcast service of the ‘Friends of Airedale’ a
registered charity 503652
based at Airedale General Hospital in Steeton, West Yorkshire. Our section
leader Aaron McCarter is listed as one of the Trustees

May 2008 saw the re-launch of Radio Airedale complete with a new DDA
compliant studio area with
a 24 hour automation broadcast system using PSquared Myriad
Thanks to our friends at Bishop Auckland Hospital radio and Burnley
Hospital Radio we now have a
professional standard studio broadcasting a wide ranging service to the
benefit of the patients
who are in Airedale Hospital
We broadcast at least live programming everyday of the week and carry our
own prepared recordings such as Roger Smith with 60’s POP
and carry specific programmes such as the Yorkshire Post podcasts of
SportsTalk, BusinessTalk and OUTLoud
During 2009 we plan to launch a 2nd language radio service ‘Airedale
Language Radio’ to cater for the large South Asian migrant
population of Keighley and the surrounding area. Although not exclusively
in Urdu/Punjabi these languages will be the
main heard on the radio service
We have a very good relationship with all the local schools/colleges and
media outlets who support the work of our volunteers
since the re-launch after 6 quiet years around Airedale
