Dick
has extensive experience of power generation, industrial electrical systems,
process plant and mechanical handling. He has been deeply involved in the
procurement, design, manufacture and testing of
mechanical and electrical equipment from sources throughout Europe. He has
manufacturing, construction site and operational support experience. He is
thus able to address many specialised areas of technology, as well as more
general matters of engineering practice and industrial safety. He
has provided engineering support for litigation alongside his conventional
consulting practice since 1978. A Member of the Academy of Experts, he is
trained in the requirements of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and the
particular requirements they place upon experts in general, and Single Joint
Experts. He is a Member of the Society of Construction Law and an APIL expert.
Dick
has given oral evidence on several occasions in court proceedings in the UK
and in international arbitration (as the tribunal’s independent expert in ICC
arbitration). His court experience has encompassed cases of contractual
dispute, professional negligence and disputed intellectual property. He has
advised on the drafting of technical claims and provided many reports and
formal evidence in a variety of engineering disputes, ranging from complex
multi-million dollar international construction disputes to relatively simple
matters relating to the supply, design, performance and safety of machinery
and installations.
