In the picturesque village of Hoarwithy on the River Wye in Herefordshire sits the refurbished New Harp Inn. The pub was closed for nearly a year due to a fire, but Andrew & Fleur arrived to re-open it, Phoenix style! The New Harp Inn dates back to the 1880’s, when James Preece lost his tenancy on The Old Harp after it was purchased by two Reverends and changed into The Harp Temperance Hotel. Preece then moved to Fishbrook Cottage and started The New Harp… This picture postcard pub is surrounded by beautiful countryside. A brook runs through the garden, the heated, decked patio has views towards the river and beyond, and the bay windows at the front look out at the village church. There is opportunity to tie in a trip to the Harp with one of Hoarwithy’s many available activities. Take a look around the beautiful Italianate style St Catherine’s Church, walk the dog down by the river or across the stunning countryside, cycle round the lanes or even canoe down the river, not to mention a fine selection of golf courses in the area! As soon as you step inside you get caught up in the warm welcoming atmosphere, where our friendly and attentive team will enjoy looking after you. Professional, yet relaxed is our aim and how we like to describe our pub. The buzz of conversation, with some low level music in the background is what we’re about. Our ever-evolving menu and Specials boards balance
traditional pub fayre with the original and unusual. Where possible
we use local and organic producers and aim to get the best local produce
available. The Harp is a country pub with a contemporary
interior, fresh clean lines but with an eclectic mix of furniture and
art. First and foremost a pub, there is something for everyone. We cater
equally for the family walking the dog, in need of a sandwich, to the
couple wanting a three course meal with fine wine, whether you are a
local relaxing with a pint at the end of a long day or just want a window
seat to watch the world go by, you will always be welcome. We hope you
will be comfortable and enjoy our hospitality with friends and family.
