GROUP CONSTITUTION.
Name.
The group shall be known as "The Barton Stacey Village Independent Players".
Objectives.
To establish a drama group comprised of volunteers of all ages. To plan, prepare and carry out public drama performances within the local community of Barton Stacey and
neighboring villages. To promote the work of the group locally and to seek to recruit new members of all ages but with an emphasis on young people. To offer, where appropriate, accreditation in the
Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme Skills and Service sections. To support through donations local community facilities such as the Church on an annual basis.
Powers.
To raise funds and to
invite and receive contributions of cash or kind which will aid the furtherance of the group's objectives.
To appoint and constitute such advisory committees as the group may think fit. To cooperate with
other groups, voluntary bodies and statutory authorities operating in the furtherance of the objectives and to exchange information and advice with them.
To do all such lawful things as are necessary for the achievement of the objectives. Membership. Membership of the group shall be open to any person over the age of 18
interested in supporting the objectives of the group. Every member shall have one vote. The Executive Committee may by unanimous vote and for good reason terminate the membership of any
individual, providing that the individual has a right to be heard by the Executive Committee before a final decision is reached. Associate membership of the group is available to any person under 18.
Honorary Officers.
The Executive Committee shall elect annually from the members two joint Treasurers. The Executive Committee shall elect a Chair and Secretary for each meeting to provide rotation
and equality among group members.
Executive Committee.
Membership of the Executive Committee is comprised of all group members-
The Committee shall hold at least one ordinary group meeting annually Special meetings can be called at any time by a minimum of three members
provided that at least 7 days notice is given to all members of matters to be discussed.
Decisions will be determined by a majority of votes with the Chair to have a casting vote in cases of voting equality.
The Committee may appoint subcommittees comprising of members for agreed specific tasks and for immediate report back to the committee.
The Committee shall keep minutes of all meetings.
The
Executive Committee shall organise an Annual General Meeting of the group not less than three months after the end of the financial year.
Accounts.
The financial year shall end on 31 st March each year.
The Executive Committee shall assume the following responsibilities;
. The keeping of accounting records for the group . The preparation of annual accounts for the group.
. The preparation of an annual report. . The auditing or independent examination of the statements of accounts of the group.
All the funds of the group, except for petty cash,
shall as soon as possible after receipt be paid into the bank account opened and maintained by the group. The signatures of at least two members of the Executive Committee. one of whom shall be appoint
Treasurer shall at all times be required. Alterations to the Constitution. The Constitution shall only be amended at an Annual General meeting of the group of at an Extraordinary General
meeting called for that purpose. All decisions are to be determined by majority vote or, in the case of voting equality, by the chair's casting vote.
Dissolution.
The Group may be dissolved at a
general meeting by Resolution passed by two thirds of the members present and voting- If upon winding up, any resources, equipment of funds left over, these shall be applied to some other charitable purpose whose
objectives are compatible with those of the Group.
