magazines in archive

The aim of the RoaR Archive Reference section is to provide an educational and informative resource area for visitors to discover the role of outsider art in both a historical and contemporary context. While outsider art is still a comparatively specialist subject in the UK, RoaR has purchased and recommends the following list of publications that are available to view at any time in the Archive room.

Other material in the Archive includes journals, artists profiles, press cuttings, exhibition details, website addresses and other literature relating to outsider art for the purpose of research or general interest.

raw vision magazine

Before opening in 1996, RoaR’s predecessor the St Brannocks Gallery began subscribing to the internationally acclaimed outsider magazine Raw Vision. RoaR is hugely grateful to St Brannocks for donating their collection to us and proud to offer visitors the opportunity to view these inspiring journals dating back to 1993. Current copies can be ordered or purchased directly from the RoaR Archive.

“Raw Vision magazine is going from strength to strength. Founded in 1989 as a low budget twice-yearly journal it has now developed into a fully fledged, full colour, quarterly publication with an ever increasing subscription base. Shop sales in Britain and the USA continue to rise and it now sells in Japan and throughout Europe.”

John Maizels, Editor Raw Vision magazine, taken from the Raw Vision website.
