Managment News
Manager, Tommy Moore, has put together his management team for the
coming seasons, which are -:
Assistant 1st team manager/coach - Len Thomas
Assistant 1st team player /manager/coach - Paul Greenacre
1st team physio/kit man - Brian Fray
Reserves player/manager/coach - Craig Thomas
Assistant reserves manager/goalkeeper coach - Vinnie Cunniffe
Assistant reserves manager/physio - Chris Woolham
Fitness Trainer - Jeff Parker
Tommy is very pleased with the team of people that are supporting
him this season. The emphasis is on "TEAM BUILDING" and not as individuals; something that the
manager is keen to emphasize, as he believes it is the encouragement and support
that is necessary to work with ALL players no matter what their ability levels
are. To command players to train for instance is not the key, but to give them
ownership to be part of a team to achieve the goals that have been set from that
team. To meet those goals, we all need to be striving to be the best that we can
be, and to do the best that we can to help the rest of the team. To be better
players we need to be as fit as we can be therefore we must train as often as we
can at full capacity. The team building has already started with Craig Thomas
being a major influence along with the driving influence of Tony Allen. Tony has
already galvanized the players at the club, attracted very good players to the
club, canvassing for sponsorship and organizing fundraising events such as a
"Race night" and sportsman’s dinner. The manager wants to give the credit for
the change of attitude and camaraderie solely down to Tony. Everyone is now keen
to push the club forward. Add to this the tremendously talented group of young players
that have come through the ranks of the successful youth team that Tommy believes could have played at higher levels. But
have stayed loyal to him, which he truly appreciates. These include county
players Craig Naylor, Danny Williams, Scott Moore and Alex Mort. Then there are
players who have already gained 1st team experience alongside the 4 previously
mentioned, and brilliant prospects like Simon Farrell, Keir McNeil, John
Fairhurst, Craig Whitaker, Kyle Hynes, James ILLIFF and Craig Hatton. You can
then add the players still waiting for their 1st team debuts like Aaron
Singleton, Adam Chadwick, Steve Fitton and Joe Whittaker who will all get their
chance as THE EMPHASIS IS ON YOUTH integrated with the vast amount of experience
that we can tap into like Steve Wynne, Mike Bennett, Aidie Veitch, Paul
Greenacre, Craig Thomas, Steve Veitch, Dougie Owen, Jimmy Mahon and Mark Sumner.
These players have so much to offer not only the young players but the club as a
whole. Add all this to this season’s youth team that won the Allied Youth
Alliance league division 2 and who will be competing against the likes of
Morecambe, Lancaster, Altrincham, Marine and Leigh R.M.I this coming campaign.
The manager is a very successful ex-player and captain of Daisy Hill in
Paul Fitton. The youth team could not be in better hands and Tommy having spoken
to Paul, he affirms all the same beliefs in the way football should be played.
Please come and support these talented youngsters this season who play on Sundays. Their season starts on Aug 20th. We
will keep you informed of matches. The future looks very bright for DAISY HILL
FOOTBALL CLUB.
