Rev Dr Derek Overfield is BANHIM's Industrial Chaplain in Andover.

Derek's brief is a wide one, encompassing some of the town's manufacturing industries, the Borough Council, Cricklade College, the world-famous Twinings Tea Company and the Retail Community. Derek is also one of two Chaplains serving the whole of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Derek joined BANHIM in 1997 after serving as a Baptist Minister and College Lecturer in both Wales and Scotland. Immediately before coming to Hampshire Derek served as minister of a large town centre church in Merthyr Tydfil and it was here that he initiated industrial mission in a number local companies (including Hoover plc).
Derek also serves as minister of Andover's United Reformed Church and works to bring church and industry closer together by, among other ways, organising services for 'special interest groups', such as the Rescue Services, Retail, Educationalists and those involved in the legal world.
Derek is also a member of the Steering Group of the Local Strategic Partnership and currently chairs the LSP Action Group that is looking at Health and Well-Being in the community. Derek is a member of the Andover Chamber of Commerce whom he also serves as Chaplain.
In 2003 Derek expects to have some involvement in the Defence Logistic Organisation in Andover (the town's largest employer) and Enham Industries.
