About the Mahayagya
At the beginning of January 2004,
Guruji
offered at
the lotus feet of Bhagavan Baba, a
MAHAYAGYA
in order to help
Bhagavan
in His work to reduce the future calamities, and He
gave us the chance to participate in it.
This offer was accepted by Baba.
This is
the text of Guruji's
invitation:

OM SRI GANESHAYE NAMAH
MAHAYAGYA
FOR WORLD PEACE
For the past couple
of years, Earth has been suffering from many
earthquakes, floods, tornado, volcano, fire and
aeroplane and train accidents. This is because the
Mother Earth is unable to bear the weight of the sins
committed by human beings. In Kaliyuga. the
righteousness is supposed to be 25% but in 5100 years
of Kaliyuga, it has gone down to 7%. Many negative
energies are engulfing all the countries.
The planetary
configuration during the year 2004 and perhaps in
2005 are unfavorable and will result in more
earthquakes, accidents, assassinations and
destructions.
To reduce the effect of all these
and the negative energy produced by human beings, we
need to create more positive and spiritual energy,
which can thwart the effect of negative energy.
With the blessings
of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we have decided to
create this positive energy for world peace by
constant recitation of Mantra “OM NAMO BHAGAVATE SAI
NATHAYE” 800 million times in two years terminating
into
MAHAYAGYA
on 23rd November 2005 at Rishikesh.
The constant Japa
will be conducted in the Ashram as also the devotees
can do japam in their respective houses. The devotees
who wish to participate in the
MAHAYAGYA
should fill in the attached form and
send to RISHIKESH.
They should also send monthly
report indicating the number of Japam done so that
we can monitor progress of Japam.
We should encourage
even children to join this
MAHAYAGYA. The report should be sent by E-mail, Fax or Post.

The last
Mahayagya
took place 5500 years ago during Krishna’s time under
the oldest son of the Pandavas, Yudhishtira. 1.2
million years ago Vasistha, the great Sage and Guru of
Rama conducted a
Mahayagya with Rama.
Guruji had given the
following advantages of participating
in
Mahayagya:

of positive energy to fight negative energy
thereby reduce sin on the earth. |

Get double the merit as we are doing japam for the
benefit of humanity. |

Mahayagya (15th-23rd
November 2005)

With
Baba's grace and guidance, the Mahayagya was
successfully completed in Rishikesh.
People from all over the world participated in the
recitation of the mantra "OM NAMO BHAGAVATE SAI
NATHAYA". For the Mahayagya many groups of foreign devotees came to
participate from various parts of Europe including Germany,
Italy, France, England and Netherlands. Also
individuals attended from India, South Africa, America,
Mexico and
Australia.
The 9-day programme was held from 15th
until 23rd November 2005, culminating on Baba's 80th
Birthday. Every
morning after meditation, there was Pooja,
followed by Havan. In the afternoon there
were Bhajans followed by Discourses by Guruji.
After finishing the Mahayagya Guruji
again wrote a letter to the devotees:

Dear Sai sisters and brothers,
We had resolved to do 800 million japam of ‘OM
NAMO BHAGAVATE SAI NATHAYE’ for world peace
to create positive energy and reduce the effect
of natural calamities during 2004 and 2005.
We conducted ‘Mahayagya’ from 15th November to
23rd November 2005. Due to overwhelming
response from the devotees all over the world we
recited the mantra for 1260 million times which
we offered to Baba’s lotus feet on His 80th
birthday.
We constructed
Yagya Shala with nine
havan kunds to create different types of energy.
Square havan kund is for obtaining
siddhi, yoni kund which gives son, half moon to give
auspiciousness, triangle to destroy demons and
enemies, round for world peace, havan kund with
six angles for stopping death, padma kund like
lotus flower for rain and kund with eight angles
to remove diseases. The Mahayagya was
attended by 200 to 250 devotees every day.
The
Purnahuti (final offering) was
conducted on 23rd November 2005 in the presence
of various ministers. We offered 150
coconuts and also 126 lotus flowers, each flower
counts for 10 million japam.
Thereafter we performed
Aarti. Tarpan
for offering the merits of Mahayagya for the
ancestors was done after that. Thus, many
ancestors would have gone to heaven.
We then distributed blankets to the
poor lepers and gave scholarship to 200 poor
children. The children of Sri Sai Baba
International Public School gave a Cultural
Programme on 22nd November which thrilled all
the devotees. The Mahayagya ended with the
Narayan Seva which many devotees attended.
