Skills Share Project
Does your organisation struggle to find people with professional skills to help with particular tasks? Is the cost of hiring professional help just too expensive? If you could give your organisation a gift of specialist skills this Christmas – what would you wish for?
The aim of the project is to match people with professional skills with organisations that need specific help for a short term piece of work. Examples could be:- designing a web site, setting up a database, helping develop a business plan, introducing a risk management process, reviewing policies, giving advice on health and safety. Please help us to design our project by spending a few moments considering the sort of help your group could find useful.
Please click here to complete a quick online survey which gives you the opportunity to tell us the kind of skills you might need. Spending 10 minutes doing this now might save you hours and ££££’s in the future!
Annual General Meeting 2011
The Royston Volunteer Centre's
Annual General Meeting took place on the 23rd November.
The speaker Joseph Ballard, from the London 2012 Inspire Programme for the East of England spoke about the Inspiration of the 2012 Games and how this has animated people to take part and volunteer at local events in their local community.
Hundreds of non-commercial projects
and events inspired by the Games have already been awarded the London 2012
Inspire mark. The Inspire programme focuses on six key themes: sport,
culture, education, sustainability, volunteering and business opportunities and
skills.
Mr Ballard
explained that Inspire Marks are awarded to projects that are committed to the
values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Royston Volunteer Centre has now achieved 4 Inspired Marks for its projects.

Royston 2012: A Year of Celebration
All Volunteer Centres nationwide have been
charged with managing the inspiration and legacy of the 2012 games
We are proud to be part of an exiting new initiative, the Royston 2012 committee and want to ensure that everyone who has been inspired to volunteer by the 2012 Games has the opportunity to do so in their local area, before, during and after the games. This can be in local voluntary organisations and community groups as well as helping to fundraise, helping with publicity and design and event planning for the local 2012 events. We want to help the community embrace the inspiration and build on the 2012 legacy.
The Committee acts as a supporting arm for groups planning special 2012 celebrations celebrating the Olympic Games, the Queens 60th Jubilee and the 850th anniversary of the founding of Royston Priory.
