Most of the work at Ruthern Instruments focuses on
custom instrument design. There is a tremendous range
of things that I get involved with, and although much of
this is related to the marine environment because of my
location in Cornwall, I cover most aspects of instrument
and electronics design.
I offer prototype instrument construction and development
support aimed specifically at graduates and post-docs who
may be working in their first funded research post. We use
National Instruments LabVIEW™ in many of our solutions as it
is reliable and fast, and therefore cost-effective.
I am prepared to consider any ideas, but if I don’t have
the resources in-house I have an excellent network of contacts.
Take a look at my case studies to get a flavour of what I do.
Case Study 1:
The TPOD Cetacean (e.g. Porpoise and Dolphin) acoustic monitor
Case Study 2:
High precision system for continuous monitoring of marine pH
Case Study 3:
A multi-parameter logger for ion-specific electrode (ISE) field study
Case Study 4:
Listening to the Cricket! - evolutionary issues (the selfish gene)
Case Study 5:
