Luperina nickerlii nickerlii (Freyer 1845)

Habitat: inland sandy heaths and other hot places
Foodplant: Festuca ovina (Sheep's Fescue)

Notes: nickerlii is extending its range in eastern Germany near Berlin, where it is now found in large numbers on sandy heathland in abandoned Russian military camps. The larvae feed on small clumps of Festuca ovina in areas of bare ground. Some of these forms are similar to gueneei.
