Training to become a teacher of

The Alexander Technique

This page is produced by the Bloomsbury Alexander Centre, London.

Train to teach the Alexander Technique if you have become fascinated by the potential that this technique has to offer. You will learn about yourself in the training process in a way that no other course can offer you. When you have qualified you will be able to practise as a teacher. By so doing you will help to bring the technique to a wider audience, helping many people along the way and continuing to work on your own personal development all the time.
This page is UK-based. The best source of information about training in the UK is the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique - find them at www.stat.org.uk

This page also has excellent seach tools that will help you to find training courses in other parts of the world.

Most people who train to teach the technique have become interested in training while having lessons for their own benefit. If you have not already had lessons, then you should consider doing this. The STAT link www.stat.org.uk will lead you to their excellent search tool that will help you to find a teacher in your area.
The best way to find out about training to teach the Alexander Technique is to visit the training courses. In this way you will
  • find out about the training process
  • decide whether you can face three years at that particular course
  • consider whether you can see yourself spending three years committed to this very demanding training programme.
