Gabriel Faure, famous for his melodies, referred to his Requiem as 'a lullaby'. Here we perform it with songs by him and others from the tradition it grew from - the haunting lilt of the French chanson.

Thunder, lightning and more earthbound passion from the Italian master. A sequence of well-known opera choruses and arias as a prelude to two of his intense and dramatic sacred pieces, Te Deum and Stabat Mater.
