Our Gala Concert
Nearly 500 people and 150 performers thronged
To mark the special occasion, we commissioned a new composition by Roger Teichmann called The Serpent God which received its first
public performance.
You can now buy a CD of the concert, professionally recorded by Radio
Cherwell. As well as the piece by Teichmann, the CD
contains two of Handel’s Coronation Anthems (Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice), Britten’s Hymn to Saint Cecilia, Walton’s Crown
Imperial March and Shostakovich’s stirring Festive Overture.
Nicola Lisle, writing in The
Oxford Times, described the concert as “A compelling and stylish
performance, clearly relishing the dramatic content and the composer's (Teichmann’s) melodic and rhythmic inventiveness". The
orchestral pieces were "Delivered with appropriate sparkle and
panache".
The CD costs £6.50 including postage and packing from info@headingtonsingers.org.uk

The concert also raised over £2,500 for four
local medical charities - The Clive Project, the Motor Neurone Disease
Association – Oxfordshire branch, Botley Alzheimer's
Home and the Oxfordshire Association for the Blind.
