Welcome to the Sherfield English Parish web site.

The primary purpose of the site is to let people in the village know what is happening in the village, with a focus on the Parish Council, events in the Village Hall and activities at the Sports Field. The Parish Plan and forthcoming Village Design Statement are also covered in detail.

OUR CHILDREN’S
COMMUNITY GARDEN

We meet on Saturdays, 10am to 12noon. With a ‘teabreak’ at 11am.  Any adults with an interest in gardening are very welcome to come and help answer the many interesting questions asked by the children - never a dull moment!

There's lots happening now the weather has warmed up, with success in the poly-tunnel, and progress everywhere. The pond is giving great pleasure, with many interesting inhabitants!

FRIENDLY TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The Sherfield English Annual Friendly Tennis Tournament was held on Sunday 18th July.

The event was an outstanding success this year. There were a large number of entries from both adults and children, and some nail-biting rallies took place in front of the audience of family and friends.

The winning pair of children was Josh and Elliot Stratton, and 1 point behind came Tatti and Cameron Stratton.

The adult winners were Samantha Luckhurst and Debbie Digance, with the runners-up being Elizabeth Gill and John Roland.

Thanks to all those who helped, Elizabeth for organising everybody and Samantha for the cream tea.

A note from the Parish Plan Manager

"The Sherfield English Parish Plan has been endorsed by the 'Local Strategic Partnership'. Information about this is available from their web site: www.yourtestvalley.com

The Second Issue of the Parish Plan was published last year, following the external consultation stage. A small number of changes and additions have been made to the Plan, the main things being the addition of an index of local businesses, a reference page for local groups and clubs and a map of all 'Sites of Interest for Nature Conservation' in the parish.

Click on the 'Parish Plan' tab above for details of how to obtain a printed copy, or to download a PDF version.

Current activity is focussed on the development of a VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT and our main Action Plans. See the 'Parish Plan' page for details.

The Parish Plan is a 'live' plan, not something set in stone, so if you read something in it and a thought occurs to you, please take the trouble to pass your thought on - my email and phone number are above.

The Parish Plan page has further information and download links.
