General Hire Terms

All offers exclude dual control vehicle rentals. Normal terms & conditions and mileage/driver restrictions apply at all times.
Whilst an excess charge will apply in the event of vehicle damage a collision damage waiver is available – please ask for details of CDW charges.

Terms and Conditions

Normal terms and conditions of rental apply at all times.
All rates include VAT & insurance and are subject to availability.
***Despite the purchase of insurance an excess will be charged for any vehicle damage.***
Insurance cover is for the UK only unless clearance is granted prior to rental.
Rate reductions are available for renters providing their own insurance cover (please ask for details).
Rates include breakdown recovery.

Drivers

Drivers must be aged 21 years or over (Standard upwards & minibus – 25 years or over) and possess a full category British driving licence for the type of vehicle rented.
Overseas visitors must produce a valid domestic driving licence or an international driving permit accompanied by a passport.
Drivers are required to have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months and have a clean insurance record although endorsed licences may be accepted.
Minibus drivers must be experienced in driving this type of vehicle and have the necessary licence entitlement.
An administrative charge will be made for any additional drivers.
No person other than the renter or approved additional driver/drivers are permitted to drive the vehicle rented.
Seatbelts must be worn at all times as required by law.

Driving Licence/Identification

Driving licences and further forms of identification must be provided.
Please note renters with new style driving licences must provide both parts.

Car Rental

Minimum rental period is 1 day.
Weekend rental period is from 4.00pm Friday until 9.00am Monday.

Payments

For advance bookings payment in full is required.
For cancellations payment will normally be refunded in full provided 7 days notice is given.
Most major credit / debit cards are accepted.

Rental Extensions

Subject to availability rentals may be extended by contacting the rental office and arranging an extension during time of original rental.
Failure to do so will result in the vehicle being uninsured.

Vehicle Availability

To avoid disappointment vehicles should be booked in advance.
Models shown and all descriptions are for general guidance only and while every effort is made to comply with requirements we cannot guarantee a specific model.
Please note that automatic and estate vehicles will incur an additional charge.

WHEN RENTING PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR DRIVING LICENCE AND OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES.

Shetland Car Hire Ltd reserve the right to refuse rental and to cancel bookings due to inclement weather and operational problems outwith their control. Shetland Car Hire Ltd also reserve the right to change these terms and conditions without notice.
