Have been in the wool business for over 60 years
annually buying, direct from the local crofters and farmers, the major
portion of the wool produced in Shetland
Our collection of hand knitting yarns, including
our natural coloured Shetland 2000 range, reflects the natural beauty
of our islands and unique characteristics of the Shetland sheep, which
graze on the wind swept heather clad hills.
During the 2006 season we have purchased more than
230,000 Kg (see note below) of Shetland 's wool clip direct
from local wool producers maintaining our position as the Islands main
buyer of locally produced raw wool.

Our local knowledge suggests that this figure is probably in excess of
90% of Shetlands total raw wool production and we appear to be on
target to meet or exceed this level for the 2007 season.

As Shetland 's main supplier of genuine Shetland Wool hand
knitting yarn, blended Shetland Lace hand knitting yarn and with
our own Shetland 2000 natural coloured undyed yarn, and in order
to ensure our customers get only the finest 'pedigree' Shetland Products,
at Jamieson and Smith ( Shetland Wool Brokers ) Ltd. we would like
to stress that;
We purchase ALL our raw wool direct from Shetland's
Wool Producers and we DO NOT purchase any raw wool from outside the
Shetland Islands.
Using only Shetland produced wool, we carefully
grade, sort and blend it before it is spun into a superior quality
'Pure Shetland' yarn.
We have no agents, distributors or commercial
links with any other Shetland based wool company.
We specialise in mail order sales direct to both
Trade and Private customers and are about the only place in the world
(with the exception of out stockist's) that you can buy genuine "Shetland
Grown" wool knitting yarns and products.
Available through our World Wide Mail Order Service and, in
an extensive range of more than 300 shades and weights, we have lace
knitting yarns, jumper knitting yarns, natural
wool yarns, lace knitting kits for
shawls,scarves and stoles, wool knitting kits
for jumpers and sweaters (including Fair Isle knitting kits) raw
fleece and combed tops for hand spinning
and felt making, knitting accessories including
knitting needles, crochet needles, row counters, knitting belts,
jumper boards, yarn winders and, knitting
patterns for almost every purpose.
