Malformed Animal Glitch (Malevich vs minimal impact)
I unfortunately arrived late into the Malformed Animal Glitch set. This was a one-off
project between pure total noise merchant Minimal Impact and melancholic, improvisational
electro-poets Malevich. So I got to the front in time to see Nick delicately putting one of his
mutilated LP's away in its sleeve, before gingerly fetching out another. Meanwhile quite confusing
blasts of noise were coming at me from both sides: Steve and Tony studiously working away.
Then things shifted and the full throttle roar gave way to some moments of musical quietude, as
Nick brought the bumping beat of his butchered record up under it. And the set finished, bastards.
Later I was told that I missed a ‘chorus’ in the set, where Steve and Nick inter-played a repeated
scratch of a record with blasting slabs of sound three or four times. I liked the image.
