His
formidable musicianship sees him equally at home in a variety of professional
musical settings:
Brief Biography Born in London in 1975, Simon initially studied Piano, French Horn and Composition at Trinity College of Music, London where he was awarded a Scholarship at 11years old. During his time at Trinity Simon performed at the piano, on the French horn and sung at concerts in The Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Paul's Cathedral and The Purcell Room. His first major composition was publicly performed at St. John's Smith Square in the presence of Sir Yehudi Menhuin in 1991. In 1997 he was awarded a First Class Degree in Music from Bristol University and a year later a Masters in Composition. Whilst at Bristol he was Conductor of the University Chamber Orchestra (1996-7) and Music Director of a number of University music theatre productions. His musical studies continued, post-university, when he was awarded a Scholarship to study composition at Dartington International Summer School (2000) and at The Britten-Pears School in Aldeburgh (2002). He compositions have been performed at some of London's top classical music venues including The Barbican Hall, St. John's Smith Square and St. Martin-in-the-Fields. He has conducted film music sessions (Gangstar Pictures and Purple Films) and symphony orchestras, tutored on Education & Outreach Projects (SoundInventors 2002-3) and is also a published arranger; Mike Anderson Rock Operas and instrumental arrangements for Kevin Mayhew Publishers Ltd., one of the countries top classical music publishers. Since
graduating in 1998 Simon has gained a wealth of experience as a Solo Pianist
performing at some of the most prestigious venues in the world (Claridge's,
The Savoy Hotel, onboard the QE2) and for some of the world's most important
people - politicians & rock stars, world leaders and Hollywood actors,
celebrities, industry leaders and Corporate Directors (Paul McCartney,
Mikhail Gorbachev, Madonna and Ozzy Osborne to name but a few). His bands,
of varying line-ups, have entertained the great and the good at functions
all over the country, abroad and on cruise ships (e.g. the new Queen Mary2)
