Sound Service

Continued...

Gareth then started a repair company with another technician/business partner, catering mostly for the Pro Audio and Hire companies in and around London.  After that came a few years of freelance electronic repair, working in several large recording studios in the London area, before moving on and working for Funky Junk, a funky company selling all sorts of second hand vintage, rare, large and esoteric equipment most of us can't afford.

Next Gareth found himself in Bonny Scotland, as Service Manager for Sound Control Glasgow, where the equipment was mostly Band Gear rather than Pro Audio.  It was here that his interest in valve amplifiers began, and he has now become somewhat of a valve specialist, often being called up to do emergency Mesa Boogie warranty repairs for bands touring "up north".  It was here that Sound Service was born, and it operated from within the Sound Control Glasgow store.

Sound Service relocated to Leeds about 3 years ago.  It presently carries out warranty repairs for Roland, Tascam and Mesa Boogie. Sound Service was also regularly installing Sound Control's Pro Tools systems into Universities and Colleges, until its recent demise.      Because of his long background as a musician, sound engineer and electronic technician, Gareth has an unusually wide knowledge base, from digital systems (having designed some) to analogue synths and valve amplifiers, with a thorough understanding of how the equipment works, why it sometimes doesn't, and what it means to be an operator of this equipment.  He also understands that sometimes repairs need to be carried out sooner rather than later and at a reasonable price with a high degree of honesty, integrity, and reliability.
