SCS have experience in a range of aspects of database design and management: - Logical data modelling: Translating functional and data requirements into a logical design
- Physical implementation of databases: Conversion of a logical design into an actual database
- Performance tuning: Tuning of database structure, content and queries to maximise system performance
- Data replication: Replication of data across globally distributed platforms, using 3rd party products or bespoke software development
- Data archiving: Managing the archival and retrieval of data in large databases
- Data migration and conversion: Converting data from a range of sources and migrating to customer databases (from a variety of databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Access and text-based sources)
Our main expertise is in the Sybase family of database products and tools (Adaptive Server Enterprise, Replication Server). These have been used in a variety of applications, such as managing records for an organisation with tens of thousands of members, processing high volumes of transactional data; to processing and storing large volumes of images.
