Special Computer Systems Limited (SCSL) was incorporated in 1982. Initially it was used as the vehicle for marketing and selling a system to video rental shops to manage and control the hire of video films. The system was developed by the founder member of the company and many copies of the system were sold to video rental shops in the Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire areas.

From 1988 until 2004 SCS was used as the vehicle for the provision of project management and consultancy in the IT industry. Major clients in this period included a major high street retailer, a point-of-sale equipment provider, a major telecommunications company and a UK government agency. Project management and consultancy was provided on diverse applications including the implementation of a major, nationwide logistics system, point-of-sale systems developments and the implementation of a bonded freight import and export service.

Over the most recent ten years project management services have been provided to the telecommunications client for the development, implementation and support of a global system which supports critical aspects of credit card transaction processing for the world’s leading credit card brand. In 2005 the client took the decision to sub-contract the on-going development and support of this system to SCS and three of the client's employees who had worked on the system joined SCS as principals. The award of this major contract to SCS has assured a stable and secure operating base from which we are able to expand our services and offer our expertise to other customers in a very competitive and effective way.
