Junior Church
St Chad’s junior church meets each week during the 9.30 service except on the first Sunday in the month when we join together for the short (50 mins) Family Eucharist service.
Our children join in the service until the second hymn and return in time to join parents and carers for communion. At the end of the service we welcome them to share what they have been doing with the congregation. We are lucky enough to have a large band of CRB checked leaders and assistants from throughout our congregation and so are able to run 3 groups each Sunday:
- Our crèche welcomes our preschool age children for a story, possibly a song and a chance to play. The crèche also operates on the first Sunday each month for those who are too restless to enjoy the service
- Junior church provides more structured activities for the 5-8s in our church family. We use the Scripture Union Splash resources and enjoy games, acting, singing, stories and craft activities.
- Kidz For Christ uses the Scripture Union Xtreme and other resources to interest and entertain our 9-12s. KFC provides a link between our junior church and our youth group, many of the older KFCers also joining in with the youth group activities.
Our children and leaders wear name badges to help those of us with poor memories remember names and new badges are given to all our visitors to help make them feel welcome. Many children are confident to come to their group alone but parents and carers are always welcome to join in the fun.
Members of our junior groups and friends also enjoy a range of events throughout the year, including a trip to the pantomime, a Christmas party (in January when we all enjoy it more), fun afternoons and holiday workshops.
