Download and Installation
Instructions
Microsoft Prerequisites Download and Install
This should not be necessary for Win 2000 or Win XP - Please ignore !!
You should only do this if you do not have the releavant Microsoft prerequisites
installed from a previous version of MuseLi. If this is the first
time you are getting this program ( or you are unsure !) you should download
and install these prerequisites. I stress again that you are breaking
no license agreements by downloading these Microsoft components as they qualify
as freely redistributable software (I read the licensing agreement in the
development tool I am using !) :-
-
Download the 'musepreq.exe' file into a temporary folder (directory).
-
Execute 'musepreq' in the temporary folder. You can do this by either
double clicking it in Windows Explorer or opening an MS-DOS window, going
to the temporary directory and typing 'musepreq'. This file is
what is known as a 'Self-Extracting Zip File' and executing it will just
extract the files it contains and nothing more. These files will then
be used in the next stage to continue the installation.
-
If C:\WINDOWS is your main Windows
95 directory then execute 'instpreq' by either using Windows
Explorer are, as before, opening an MS-DOS window, going to the temporary
directory and typing 'instpreq'.
-
If C:\WINDOWS is
NOT your
main Windows 95 directory then you cannot use Windows Explorer
to execute 'instpreq'. You must start an MS-DOS window and go to the
temporary directory. If your main Windows 95 directory is actually
called C:\WIN95 you should then type the following command 'instpreq
C:\WIN95'.
-
Installation of the Microsoft Prerequisites is now complete, you can now
delete the temporary folder (directory) and it's contents.
MuseLi Download and Install
-
Download the 'musemast.zip' file into a temporary folder (directory).
-
Unzip 'musemast.zip' in the temporary folder. These files will then
be used in the next stage to continue the installation.
-
Now execute 'instmuse' by either using Windows Explorer or, as before, opening
an MS-DOS window, going to the temporary directory and typing 'instmuse'.
This will install MuseLi in the folder (directory) 'MuseLi'
in the root directory of drive C: (C:\MuseLi).
-
Installation of the MuseLi Program is now complete (with the exception of
a Start Menu Entry), you can now delete the temporary folder (directory)
and it's contents.
-
At this point there is no Program Group Entry on the Start Menu for MuseLi.
This will be automatically created the first time you execute the
MuseLi program. You can do this by using Windows Explorer to locate
the MuseLi program in the MuseLi folder as described above and executing
it from there. Alternatively you can open an MS-DOS window, switch
to the MuseLi directory by typing 'cd C:\MuseLi', and then execute the MuseLi
program by typing 'MuseLi'.
-
You should now be up and running.
