LAMDA RESULTS 2005-6

Children from Year 2 to Year 6 take part in the QCA accredited LAMDA examinations.

Exciting new development: Higher levels in these examinations, taken at Secondary School, now count towards UCAS points. At St. Mary’s Hare Park we feel giving our children the opportunity to take part in the LAMDA training and examinations, we make a real difference and give our children an amazing start to their Further and Higher Education.

LAMDA RESULTS 2004-5

Year 6 pupils were delighted when they heard a Senior LAMDA examiner had awarded them 100% in their Choral Speaking examination. 15 pupils also passed ‘Spoken English’ with high grades. These exams are an introduction to public speaking and the pupils had to prepare and deliver contrasting speeches. Mrs. K, Head teacher and Speech and Drama specialist, said:

‘ We are proud of our academic excellence - endorsed in our recent OFSTED - as we are of our sporting and musical achievements. What St. Mary’s Hare Park does best is to develop the ‘whole child’. We believe, through exams such as these, their inner confidence and self esteem is heightened, enabling pupils to access a wide and varied curriculum. Whilst enjoying all these wonderful opportunities and fulfilling our school motto ‘Facta Non Verba’ – ‘Action not words’ - the children never forget those less fortunate than ourselves, endorsing our reputation of being a ‘small school with a big heart’.

A message from Mrs. Karwacinski, Headteacher

During the summer term, we welcomed a film crew from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). The purpose of the 'shoot' was to produce footage that will feature in an educational film promotion which gives examples of good practice in schools.

This visit followed the pupils’ recent outstanding examination results, achieving 100% Distinction for their Group LAMDA Choral Speaking (Years 2 – 6) and Musical Theatre examinations (Years 4 – 6). 32 pupils from Years 5 and 6 also took individual Spoken English examinations (up to Grade 3) achieving 12 Distinctions, 18 Merits and 2 Passes.

It was an exciting and worthwhile day for all concerned – the film crew were particularly impressed with the children’s focus and maturity. Yet again, this year, we have been overwhelmed with our Year 6’s success in both 11+ examinations and their Public and Secondary Entry offers and are extremely proud of the outstanding LAMDA examination achievements of our children in Years 2 – 6. We believe their successes and high attainment are the benefits of the wide and varied curriculum they are offered. ‘The Arts’, Music, Drama and Public Speaking, for example, promote such inner confidence throughout their education and into their adult lives. As truly ‘well rounded individuals’, we hope and pray our children will develop into valued, confident, caring and influential citizens of the future. We could not be more proud of them.
