Music News July/August 2006 -- On the 23rd July, we had several important events. Firstly, our newest member, Marc, was welcomed officially into our choir, and he received his surplice. We hope he enjoys his time with the choir, and look forward to what he will bring! Jordan was awarded her light blue medal, showing that she has more than fulfilled the standards set out by the RSCM, so many congratulations to her also! However, the third event was a fond farewell to Helen, who, along with her family, is moving to Wales at the end of the summer. She has been in the choir for over 12 years, and we will miss her greatly. She sang her last service today, including, at her request, the hymn "I, the Lord of sea and sky", the anthem "I am the Bread of Life" and the famous organ piece simply known as "Widor". Many thanks to Bridget for preparing these items, and accompanying them so beautifully. We wish Helen and her family best wishes and hope that they will come back soon! See the pictures here. Helen received her A-level results on the 17th August, and she is going to her first choice university, the University of York, in September of this year. February 2006 -- Helen and Amy, both 18, are both leaving to pursue further education - after her Gap Year is over, Amy will be going to the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and Helen will be going to read Computer Science at either the University of York or the University of Edinburgh. Good luck to both girls; congratulations to Amy on passing her auditions and good luck to Helen with her A-level exams this summer. (Helen returned to the choir last December, for the Midnight Mass service.) September 2005 -- We are very pleased to welcome Mrs Bridget Marshall as our new Director of Music, and look forward to seeing what she and the choir can achieve in the near future! August 2005 -- Congratulations to Jordan, who passed her Grade 1 Music Examination in Flute earlier this summer! June 2005 -- In celebration of Fr Leslie's 50th anniversary in the priesthood, the choir and invited guests sang many beautiful pieces of music, at Fr Leslie's request. Thanks go to Mr Jepson for organising another wonderful performance, and for coming back from Wolverhampton specially for the service. Thanks go also to the choir and guests who sang on the day. Well done! May 2005 -- Jeremy Jepson will be moving on once again, this time to a new job in Wolverhampton, where he will be Director of Music to a choir which is larger than ours. We wish him all the best, and will miss his expert training. Great thanks go to Mr Jepson for all the hard work he has put into us, and for all the musical events he has organised. Helen, 17, has also decided this month to leave the choir, after just over 11 years, for an indefinite period of time. February 2005 -- Two of our choristers, Becky and Jordan, and another member of our congregation, Tess, were confirmed on the 6th of this month, during the service held at Holy Sepulchre, Northampton. Congratulations! December 2004 -- On Saturday 18th, the choir and their invited guests sang their "Christmas Celebration" concert. This was very well received and the choir would like to thank all those who joined them, and also all those who came along to the concert itself. It was a very successful event, and thanks go to Mr Jepson for organising and conducting it. July/August 2004 -- Our organ scholar, Phil, has moved on to greater things, taking up the post of organist at Holy Trinity and St Paul Church in Northampton. We wish him the best with this new venture. Mr Jeremy Jepson has returned to be our Director of Music once more. Recently Amy, 17, passed her Associated Board Grade 8 Flute exam with Distinction, gaining 140 out of 150. She also achieved A grades in Music and Music Technology AS level exams. Helen, 16, has also recently taken her Associated Board Grade 5 music theory exam, and passed with Merit, gaining 80 out of 100.
