Like most people who seem to end up coaching kids football, I dropped into this by accident. My young boy loved playing football, and was going to a regular Saturday morning coaching session at the local youth club.

One Saturday morning, when my son was 6 years old, the coach came over at the end of the session and said words along the lines of 'If they want to play in a team for next season, we need to get the name of a manager to the league by Monday morning ... can I put your name down?'. He came to me becasue I was the only parent there. I kinda had no choice .... I knew my son wanted to play ina team - but there was no-one else to do it. Presto - I was a football team manager.

But - despite my entry into this world being an entire accident, I can honestly say it has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I am now into my seventh season, and have watched a fairly small group of boys grow up before my eyes. They are now teenagers - and I still have the same core of players as I started with. So - if you are new to this, like I was, don't panic, and don't worry. It is a fun, rewarding and entirely (well, almost) positive experience.
