We used this drill alot when the kids were young to get them used to teamwork. It was very effective at stopping the 'bunching' that tends to go on with younger players.
The game is played as normal, but with two limitations:
- No tackling is allowed
- No dribbling past players is allowed
So, the only way to obtain posession is through interception, poor control, or from the goalkeeper. Equally, theonly way to progress is to pass the ball and use your team.
The idea is to increase the focus on the team rather than the individual player.
Pints to watch:
- This is all about support of the player with the ball by those without it. Look for movement and space creation
- While the team that does not have posession cannot tackle, they can close down the player with the ball, and mark their opponents
