Congo is the second title in the Triawd Amser (Time Travelling Trio) series. Gwion, Garmon ans Gwydion, find themselves in deepest Africa in 1924. On an expedition with a team of government surveyors, the trip is in turmoil from the very beginning, when Gwydion stumbles, knocks his head, and suffers a bout of memory loss. When he comes to, he has no idea why he and his friends are in the Congo, and has to be told they’re in Africa as reporters, sniffing out a scoop to sell to newspapers worldwide.
The story they’re tracking down is in the remote N’gomo valley, a tributary of the mighty river Congo, avoided at all costs by the local natives because of its reputed monster. Is this monster a figment of native imagination, or is there more to the blood-curdling howls that emanate from the dark jungle? Facing man-eating hippos, blood-sucking mosquitoes, and massive crocodiles, the Triawd Amser find more than they’re looking for – something very disturbing.
