For details of the Sussex County Junior Badminton Trials, see the flyer (324 KB) and attendance form (184 KB).
The following is a recent letter sent by John Hyland, the County Development Officer, to the chairman and secretary of each league operating within Sussex.
Dear All,
First and foremost, I would like to apologise for not getting in contact sooner.
I am hoping in this email to have not forgotten anybody. If there is another
contact within your league that I should use as the primary contact please let
me know and I will amend my records.
It is my aim starting now to email you, as representatives of your league, each
month with updates as to what work I am undertaking that may be affecting you.
It is my aim to create a productive network between schools, clubs, leagues,
the County Badminton Association and myself. To fulfill this aim though it will
take a lot more correspondence going between each party and I will ask that
each party email me on the 25th of each month with any developments that have
taken place within their caption area. For you as leagues this will be a brief
outline of how the league has been going in the previous month and if there
is any increase or decrease in teams or players. I will then email each of the
aforementioned parties at the end of each month with an update and with development
plans coming up. This month is nice and quiet for the most part but I felt it
necessary to email now rather than the end of the month, as I require your assistance.
I will be emailing schools and clubs at the end of the month.
There are three priorities for me currently, and these are schools, Community
Badminton Networks and the Sussex Games/Brighton International Festival of Sport.
I will provide further detail on schools and Community Badminton Networks at
a later date but as I said I require your assistance and that is in the area
of the Sussex Games. The Sussex Games is hosted by the Sussex County Sports
Partnership Trust going from August 24th to September 14th across the county.
I feel that this is a great opportunity to raise the awareness of leagues and
clubs across the county and so I am proposing that each league take this opportunity
and host a badminton taster session in your area. You can host as many as you
wish and aim the sessions at local businesses, schools, youth groups, and the
general public. You need only acquire a facility and a coach to go along.
I would be grateful if you could discuss this amongst your committee and get
back to me as soon as possible as then I will be able to advertise your session
using the county sports partnership trust facilities.
I look forward to hearing from you and if you should have any questions or thoughts
please feel free to contact me.
Kind Regards,
John Hyland
