The theatre, which was founded by George Eugeniou and which has had input from innumerable volunteers, is now looking somewhat tired and dated and its building is in urgent need of refurbishment and repair if we are to compete with other theatres in the area and retain our role as a cultural voice of this community. Knowing the importance of what we do, it's founder George Eugeniou, has run the theatre without any remuneration and with only the help of his wife, his son, relatives, friends and volunteers for several years, and now at 77, Theatro Technis needs to prepare the ground to hand the baton on to the next generation. A PDF document showing the plans for the development of a new 'Foyer' is available from our website and it shows what we are hoping to do and the effect we will achieve. The estimate for the work to bring the theatre up to the standard which today’s audiences expect and also undertake necessary repairs to the fabric of the building, is in the order of £250,000 depending on finishes. A refurbished theatre will be able to be more self sustaining by generating more bar income as well as making the space more lettable for events. We are also applying for grants to provide salaries for a manager and assistant, so any contributions towards those costs in the future will also be gratefully received.. We hope to try and raise money in small tranches in the usual ways, selling seats, bricks, programme inserts, etc but we also seek some major sponsors from the corporate sector to be patrons and to fund a significant proportion of these financial needs. We would be prepared to be very flexible on how such patronage is to be acknowledged in future. We hope you will find this of interest, and if you feel you are willing to be part of our future and are able to help, please do phone Theatro Technis, or write to us, so we can discuss ways we can take this forward. We also seek help in terms of expertise for the many practical elements of keeping the theatre vibrant. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Yours sincerely for George Eugeniou Founder and Artistic Director
