We are pleased to offer our users three Windows XP
computers with DVD player disc, each with
headphones for sound playback. One of the computers has
a webcam and microphone. There are
of course many more computers than these three in the
computer network within Theatro Technis
building (but this section is just about the public
access facilities)
There are also printer and scanner facilities
available in the building, but these can only be used
by arrangement, as these items are located in our office
space.
These are used by our members in many ways including
email, person-to-person communications
with family members abroad, for research on the web, job
searches, updating and monitoring their
own MySpace, Tagged, Facebook and other online
networking facilities etc.
.
This facility is increasingly being used by our
volunteers working together with some of our more
web-experienced members to work on their own projects as
well as to assist us in updating this
website and to assist in the task of preparing computer
files from our very considerable video
tape archives. These files are then stored in an
internal data-retrieval system, stored on DVD discs,
and selected items are uploaded to online
video-on-demand such as YouTube, Google Video
and Archive.org. Some of the results of this work is
visible from links available from
the
History/Archives
section on this website.
As with all internet cafes and the ever-evolving
cyber-world, this is an education process in
itself, where one person learns from the experience of
others and in turn passes it on to others.
Within this informal, supportive, relaxed and friendly
atmosphere, it is possible to extend
knowledge of how to use the internet and all it offers
to people who may not have had much
opportunity of using computers and the web.
Our own
MySpace,
YouTube,
Google Video,
Blogger,
Facebook and
Ourmedia facilities
also make it possible to extend our interactivity with
people located all over the world, broadening the
phenomenon of 'Total Theatre' beyond the physical
building to a global community.... so ...
So... go on ... lets be friends ... leave us a
comment on one of our online videos, take a look at
our
MySpace Blog (the most
developed one we have currently, providing details about
past
and forthcoming shows at Theatro Technis) ... or even
send us an
email to let us know
what you think of our very new but ever-evolving
website.
Although we do not offer a visitors page on this
website, all the facilities described in the previous
paragraph means there is no shortage of opportunities to
initiate a two-way process with us through
the web.
Oh yes ... we also use Windows Live Messenger and
Skype so do
email us with
your contact details if you would like to interact with
us through those.
We are increasingly using the "Remote
Desktop" facilities available within the
range of
goodies which come with the Windows XP system as well as
through the Live Messenger (MSN)
account for our own member and volunteer training
process.
