The Breath of Life
by David Hare
Director: Lesley Strachan
presented by THE TOWER THEATRE COMPANY
'Life being what it is, one dreams of revenge.'
Frances and Madeleine, two mature women, have both knowingly loved and shared the same unseen man, Martin, for 25 years. Now he's left both of them, wife and mistress, to start a new life with a young American woman in Seattle.
A deceptively simple but multi-layered portrait of two mature women faced with a dilemma.
Can they face up to their long past, or will they be defined by it for their future?
The Breath of Life was first produced at the Theatre Royal in London, 4 October 2002, in a production directed by Howard Davies and starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
