Cyprus Demonstration Trafalgar Square 2007

Annual demonstration organised by the National Federation of
Cypriot Organisations ... all » http://www.cypriotfederation.com

This "Rally for Cyprus" marks 33 years since the Turkish Invasion
of the island of Cyprus. Turkey continues to keep its settlers

Cyprus" and call on the Brown Government in Britain to use its
influence as a guarantor power to ensure that a solution is found
that is acceptable to all the people of Cyprus. The European
Union (EU) is called upon to use its influence during Turkey's
accession negotiations to contribute to finding a just solution
for Cyprus which respects the acquis communautaire and puts an
end to Turkey's continuing human rights violations in Cyprus.

The Rally at Trafalgar Square is addressed and speakers are
introduced by the President of the Federation of Cypriot
Organisations in the UK, Peter Droussiotis.

Speeches at Trafalgar Square:

Theatro Technis - Goon Trilogy excerpts performed - 2007
Theatro Technis
1 hr 3 min 8 sec - 17 Jul 2007 -Unlisted

Excerpts from "The Goon Trilogy", written by founder and Artistic
Director of Theatro Technis George Eugeniou, published in July
2007.

A short bi-lingual (Greek and English) introduction by George
Eugeniou is followed by a rehearsed reading of excerpts from 'The
Bad Guys' about Tony Blair and Iraq, 'The Good Guys' about
Britain's role in Cyprus, and 'Forza Gallileo' about the well
known inventor's troubles over whether the sun revolves around
the earth or not.

Presented as part of Theatro Technis' Cyprus Week Festival 2007.

'The Stage' - "A fascinating example of original theatrical art.
Writer George Eugeniou has created a delicious cocktail, merging
scenes from Othello with a pastiche of the Greek chorus to create
an up-to-the-minute political satire."

Maroulla talks about "Parcels to a Dead Mother" 1of2 - 1988
Theatro Technis
21 min 59 sec - 14 Dec 1988 -Unlisted

Maroulla Eugeniou talks about "Parcerls to a Dead Mother" 1of2
Recorded at Theatro Technis, December 1988.

Maroulla Eugeniou had been on a home visit to an elderly Cypriot
lady who had come to the attention of Camden's Social Services
department as needing some assistance. This was within the remit
of Theatro Technis' Cypriot Advisory Service which provided (and
still does) advice and support on a wide range of issues. On that
particular day, there happened to be a film crew visiting Theatro
Technis, from Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, to take some
footage of Cypriot elders for use in a documentary which was
being prepared to be shown on Cyprus TV. This occasioned
'conversation' about the particular elderly lady whom Maroulla
had visited.

This particular video section is the first part of 2, showing
Maroulla in conversations with other staff at Theatro Technis
while the TV crew prepares to record. After the 'glare' of
mainstream media had eased with the departure of the TV crew, (in
part 2) the conversation continued at a far deeper level and the
'in-house' video camera having been left running was in place to
archive a fascinating glimpse into some of the harsher realities
of life in the immigrant community of North London.

This material became of particular relevance later, when this
'case' of the old lady Maroulla had visited that day became the
subject of the play presented by Theatro Technis, "Parcels to a
Dead Mother in the Occupied Territories", which Maroulla would
perform in the context of Theatro Technis' unique concept of
"Community Theatre".

Fugue Fugitive
Theatro Technis Productions
1 hr 4 min 30 sec - 4 Nov 2007 -Unlisted

by Desmond Fitzgerald

Performed by Hannah Murphy and Heather Rayment Voiceover: Katie
McNight

Fugue - Noun "A Polyphonic composition based upon one, two, or
more themes which are enunciated by several voices or parts in
turn, subjected to contrapuntal treatment and gradually built up
into a complex form having somewhat distinct divisions or stages
of development and a marked climax at the end.

T-Chilling and T-ear Jerking.

Moving and Memorable.

This powerful and compelling drama faces you with facts and
feelings which most other works fear to focus on. The camps of
Bosnia were reported as even worse than the Nazi concentration
camps. At least they fed you bread and water once a day in
Auschwitz. Even the hospitals in Bosnia were no refuge from the
guns, the snarling dogs and the mindless, mindnumbing beatings.
How can we 'know' the fears, violations, torture, rape and
traumas of undiluted hatred and persecutions in the name of
religion, ethnicity and culture?

I hope you never have and I hope you never will.

The Trial of Mussolini - Part 1 of 2
Theatro Technis Productions
53 min 23 sec - 18 Nov 2007 -Unlisted

WORLD PREMIERE STAGED READING

The Trial of Mussolini is enormously relevant with its focus on
political morality.

In Foot's words the objective is to "underline afresh the
international character of war and how we must continue to resist
the reappearance of fascism".

Foot envisages the Italian dictator arrested by the British Army
and brought to London to stand trial. What looks like a closed
and shut case develops into something quite different the moment
several witnesses are brought in.

This first ever staged reading was directed by award winning
documentary director Alfio Bernabei, author of "Dangerous
Characters" for Channel 4 and of a recent article in History
Today, "The London Plot to Kill Mussolini".

A first conversation with Aris Eugeniou on the occasion of his
imminent visit to South Africa for a voluntary placement working
at a monkey sanctuary there for a few months from January 2008.
Aris also talks about his work as zoo keeper at London Zoo, and
his other environmental and sporting interests. It is hoped that
he will be able to send video-clips to his YouTube account during
his trip to South Africa, so this video is intended as an
introduction to that activity during 2008.
