Who
knocked 'Mad' Padraic's cat over on a lonely road on the island
of Inishmore - and was it an accident? He'll want to know when he
gets back from a stint of torture and chip-shop bombing in Northern
Ireland - he loves his cat more than life itself. Recent events
in Northern Ireland may have rendered this small but perfectly-formed
play a 'period piece', but it has lost none of its appeal and impact
as it observes the in-fighting within a republican paramilitary
faction, covering the grisly reality of terrorism with a hilarious
veneer.

Foot's powerful courtroom drama The Trial of Mussolini gets its
world première staged reading on 18th November 2007 at Theatro
Technis, London. The Trial of Mussolini is still enormously relevant
with its focus on political morality. In Foot's words the objective
was aimed at "underlying afresh the international character
of the war and how we must continue to resist the reappearance of
fascism”. Foot envisages the Italian dictator arrested by
the British Army and brought to London to stand. What looks like
a closed and shut case develops into something quite different the
moment several witnesses are brought in.
This first ever staged reading will be directed by award winning
documentary director Alfio Bernabei, author of Dangerous Characters
for Channel 4 and of a recent article in History Today, The London
Plot to Kill Mussolini.
