Fundraising & Charities
The Bell at Grove has over the years raised thousands of pounds for mainly local charities as part of it's genuine role as an active part of the community.
Many of the charities and events have been at the suggestion of the staff and customers who we would like to thank for their help and incredible generosity.
Although there are so many worthy causes, since 2004 we have tried to concentrate our efforts towards supporting four or five charities with whom we have come into close personal contact
Whether a simple collection box on the bar, a raffle, quiz, disco, poker tournament or darts marathon and various sponsored events, to name but a few, we look forward to raising many more thousands of pounds in the future.
Thank you all.
Regular events include: a quiz with raffle for The British Heart Foundation held every January in memory of Phil Thompson, (£400td), the Christmas and Easter raffles for Grove Day Centre for the Elderly, (£1,635td), the ‘in house’ pool league for Sobell House, (£1,616td), invitation poker tournament for Riding for the Disabled, (£411), as well as permanent collection boxes for Helen and Douglas House (£48:45 td), Grove Day Centre, and The Cat Protection League.
We have also supported the following in the last few years: Millbrook School (computer suite), The Jane Ashley Ward at The Churchill Hospital (£115), local Scouting and Football clubs, The Army Benevolent Fund (7 marathons in 7 days raised over £300), and of course every year the Poppy Appeal.
The Bell at Grove were also a significant supporter and sponsor of Team 88 Bangers and Smash who took part in Staples to Naples '06, raising money for Sobell House, Freyja's Fund and save the red squirrel!.
