Oak Ting Tang mantle clock by Winterhalder & Hofmeier. The substantial movement strikes the ¼ hours on 2-coiled gongs. The 2 subsidiary dials are for Chime/Silent and Fast/Slow enclosed by a glazed brass door. The case is solid oak and has engraving and applied mounts. The Winterhalder clock factory was founded in Germany in 1810 and in 1850 joined by Anton Hofmeier to form the renowned Winterhalder & Hofmeier Company. The factory closed in 1930 on the death of the last son Linus. This clock was made C1880.
