| The Hideout is to feature in a documentary film about the
music business as seen through the eyes of Steve Ellis, the
legendary voice behind the band "The Love Affair"
who clocked up a string of hits in the 60's & 70's, the
most notable being the classic "Everlasting Love".
Steve booked into The Hideout to record 3 new tracks and took
the opportunity to bring along the film crew to record the closing
sequences of the film in a studio environment. "The new
Amen Corner" also attended the 3-day session to provide
the instrumentation for the tracks.
Also appearing in the documentary are many of Steve's friends
and colleagues from the music business, including Paul Weller,
Roger Daltry from "The Who", Martha Reeves and Huw
Lloyd Llangton from "Hawkwind".
Those of you who have had "The Hideout Experience"
will know we do try to help young bands as much as possible.
We've taken that another small step further by offering a day's
worth of free recording to New Music Nite
who have given local bands the opportunity to play live at the
Pemberton Centre, Rushden. Angela, the organiser will pick the
most deserving band to come along and work with us. To find
out more about the music nites visit their Myspace HERE
The Steve Laffy Video is nearing completion (see below) and
has been great fun to produce. Steve is a brilliant guy to work
with. If you're looking to learn how to play the drums, Steve's
the man.... and as a drummer myself, I feel qualified to recommend
him. We'll shortly be starting to edit the video for his more
advanced book 2. To see more about the DVD click HERE
The duo "88" are again great to work with.... in
fact they're totally nuts! They have decided to use the Hideout
team as we should be used.. (no.. not for that)..
for all our support services and expertise. We have recorded
this fantastic pair at the studio, live at gigs, and designed,
produced, hosted and maintain their website. We've also designed
and produced their promotional posters artwork and recommended
a good printer. They also commissioned us to film one of their
live gigs using 4 cameras and of course all the top quality
audio stuff we could get in the van. The video will be available
on DVD with behind-the-scenes bonus tracks and sleeve artwork,
plus promotional footage for the website and you tube etc. These
girls know how to get their act off the ground.
It was nice to have a call out of the blue from "Connect
FM" asking if they could play some of Ash's tracks on the
station on their Saturday afternoon slot. We duly obliged and
Ash was interviewd on air while three of his tracks were played.
Cheers guys.
We've recorded a couple of loonies from Radio Fox, Matt and
Dean, for a charity record to raise money for kids in hospital.
Nice to be able to help in a small way.
The graphics side of Hideout Media Media is busy as usual with
some educational illustrations from the USA and an artwork for
The DE Beers Diamond Group with a license to cover worldwide
promotion.
We've invested in a new NEUMANN microphone which is already
giving a much more polished feel to our tracks. You can be more
confident than ever that you'll get great results at The Hideout
at often a fraction of the cost of other studios with similar
equipment.
Ash has completed another track for his EP called: "You
can". We'll add it to the "Downloads" page shortly.
Video side is busy with a DVD in production for "Air 19".
The DVD will be filmed entirely at the Hidout with the girls
comped into a totally computer generated virtual environment.
It will also include extra bonus tracks showing behind the scenes
footage of recording the song and shooting the video. There's
also a "How it was done" track showing how 3D modeling
and live action are brought together. The DVD will also feature
a unique animated menu and when played on a PC will have links
to websites and contact details. Design and artwork for the
sleeve and promotional material is also being done in-house.
Filming should be completed in November and post production
finished early 2009.
Production is underway for a drum tuition DVD by pro drummer
Steve Laffy to accompany his two books on the subject. This
video will feature animated pages of the books with curser arrows
pointing out areas as Steve narrates, Footage of Steve playing
will also help with tuition and provide material for us to design
a more dynamic menu page. Again the DVD will incorporate bonus
tracks and website links etc.
We're currently running another offer
of a video shoot to accompany one of your tracks. Click HERE
for all the details.
It's been mad busy as we've been upgrading equipment and planning
ahead. We've added another audio interface (a Motu 24I/O) which
gives us another 24 simultaneous inputs and outputs, and we're
now busy installing the cabling to handle it.
Our great-sounding rehearsal room is being fitted with a new
kitchen, toilet and shower and more beanies and soft cushions
are coming shortly for the chill out which overlooks the rehearsal
space. We now have a choice of two drumkits along with a PA
system for any bands who want to practice here. It's just £5
an hour anytime up until 9pm. It's starting to get popular,
so book early. This room is much loved by our young guitar pupils
who can use it to have a blast, chill out or socialise with
other pupils when they're not having their 1 to 1 lesson.
The video side is also hectic with several productions in the
pipeline, with most needing special effects of one sort or another.
We've just bought some new lighting rigs and a full size green
chroma screen ready for the fun. If you're thinking of producing
a video to go with your next demo, make sure you have a chat
with us here at the Hideout first.
Keep returning to check out what's new, and for any of our
special offers which might help you up the ladder. |
