The Hope Valley Lions Club was formed in 1970 with the initial aim of serving the needs of the less fortunate individuals in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire, and also organisations and groups who, receiving no state or direct funding, rely totally on voluntary contributions to enable them to continue their work with the elderly, disabled etc.
Our early charitable work could have been considered "parochial" in extent. It still is, except that our "parish" now extends worldwide, with our support covering local, national and international needs, thereby fulfilling Lions Clubs' principle aim, "to provide help and funds for those in need any where in the world, and at the same time enjoying the fun, fellowship and satisfaction which is derived from taking part".
Membership of a Lions Club is by invitation and is open to men and women over 21 years of age from all walks of life.
By becoming a member you would be joining 1.4 million members in 44,551 clubs in 185 countries and geographical locations.
